Lilac-breasted Roller

Coracias caudatus

Size: 37 cm long
Habitat: Forest, woodland and savanna
Feeding: Insects and small amphibians

The Lilac-breasted Roller is a very colourful bird. The throat and breast are lilac. The crown is greenish blue. The back is brown and the rest is varying shades of blue/turquoise.

This bird is often seen sitting in a tall dead tree watching for prey.

This is the national bird of Botswana.
