Terathopius ecaudatus

Size: Up to 70 cms long, 170 cms wingspan
Habitat: Mainly grassland and savannah
Feeding: Birds and small mammals

The Bateleur is a colourful, bird of prey - a medium-sized eagle.

It is easy to identify with bright red skin around its eyes and base of the beak. The legs are also bright red. The body and head are black with a chestnut coloured mantle of feathers. The wings are grey.
